This session covers some of the basics of understanding research. Covering issues like the difference between correlation and causation, and how to pick appropriate research methods to answer research questions. We explore some of the basic principles of research, some of the common pitfalls in interpreting and using research data, and how to avoid them.

​The session is facilitated by Chloe Maughan, a social research with experience researching student experience, health and wellbeing, and youth unemployment. Chloe is a former Government Social Researcher, and started her career at University of Bristol Students’ Union where she led several projects exploring student experience and student satisfaction. Chloe provides end-to-end research support and evaluation clinics to help small organisations answer their research questions.
